ROAVR Completes Seagreen Offshore Windfarm Project

March 2023 – ROAVR Completes Survey & Inspection works at the Port of Nigg in Northern Scotland for the Seagreen Offshore Windfarm.

ROAVR provided load in and load out inspection services to port handler Global Group and Saipem. Each of the 114 jackets were inspected using the TiDE system and load in and load out and all the inspection data was presented to the project stakeholders through the bespoke delivery system i-ROAVR.

The Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project is a joint venture between the French energy company, TotalEnergies, and the renewable energy company, SSE Renewables. The project is located in the North Sea, off the coast of Scotland and is set to become one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms once completed.

The project consists of two phases. The first phase, which is currently under construction, will have a capacity of 1.1 gigawatts (GW) and will comprise 114 turbines. The second phase, which is still in the planning stage, will add a further 1.4 GW of capacity, bringing the total capacity of the wind farm to 2.4 GW. The project is expected to provide enough electricity to power over 1 million homes in the UK.

The Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project is situated in an area known for its high winds, which makes it an ideal location for wind energy production. The project is also being developed with a focus on minimizing its impact on the environment. For example, the turbines are designed to minimize noise pollution and the development of the project has taken into consideration the local marine life and ecosystem.

In addition to providing renewable energy to the UK, the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project is also expected to create jobs and support the local economy. During the construction phase, it is estimated that the project will create around 2,000 jobs, with a further 180 jobs created once the wind farm is operational. The project is also expected to provide opportunities for local businesses, with many companies already involved in the construction of the wind farm.

The Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project has received a significant amount of support from the Scottish government, which has set ambitious targets for renewable energy production in Scotland. The government has committed to generating 50% of Scotland’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and has also set a target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.

Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm project is a significant development in the UK’s renewable energy sector. It will provide a significant amount of renewable energy to the UK and will help to support the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The project also demonstrates the potential for offshore wind energy production to create jobs and support local economies, while also minimizing its impact on the environment.
